New Structure for ECC DRAM Module

ECC (error-correcting code) module, also known as parity memory, is designed to detect and correct single-bit errors that occur during data storage and transmission. It has more memory chips than a non-ECC. ECC module is generally used for computer systems that hold high-value data and where data corruption is intolerable.

Instead of taking extra chips in regular ECC module design, in this patent, memory chips with built-in error-correcting code was mounted on board, each memory chip itself can carry out error checking and correction function and thus increase overall speed and performance.
